Fluoride is one of the best and safest ways to prevent cavities. Acids in foods and beverages we consume can wear away the outer enamel layer of our teeth. Fluoride helps protect teeth by making them more resistant to these acids. Fluoride was even named a top public health achievement of the 20th century. Fluoride water is safe to drink as well and important to drink even if you are using a fluoride toothpaste too. Fluoride treatments at the dentist's office are another way to help strengthen and protect your teeth.
